Данная дисциплина находится на стыке физики конденсированного состояния и электродинамики, изучая топологические явления в фотонных структурах. В рамках проектов исследуются топологические структуры различных размерностей (одномерные, двумерные, трехмерные), в частности, ведутся исследования по новому направлению топологических изоляторов высокого порядка. В работе проводится полный цикл научного исследования: выполняются аналитическое описание топологических эффектов, численное моделирование фотонных топологических систем и проводится их экспериментальная верификация в микроволновом диапазоне.
